If you're struggling to update the app or are being caught in an app update loop, then don't worry, this can be resolved! An app update loop simply means that every time you open the app and are asked to update it to the latest version, you are redirected to the App Store, where there is no 'update' button - only an 'open' button - which in turn takes you back to the app and asks you to update it again. Do not be alarmed by this behaviour!
Sometimes it can take a little while before an "app upgrade" becomes available on the App Store. So if you wait a little, most of the time the update will eventually be there. However, there are a couple of things you can do to give it a nudge:
- Ensure you have updated your iPhone device to the latest OS version, ie. at least Version 10 or higher. This is important.
- Force the App Store to refresh its contents, by either of the following: (a) If your iPhone device is on iOS 11, to do this, simply launch the App Store and tap on the 'Updates' tab in the navigation bar at the bottom. Then, anywhere on the screen, scroll your finger downward. A little spinner will appear as the App Store refreshes itself. (b) If your iPhone device is not on iOS 10 or lower, to do this, simply launch the App Store and then tap on the 'Updates' tab in the navigation bar at the bottom. Now tap on this 'Navigation' tab around 5 or 6 times. This should refresh the App Store to check for new data.
- Turn your phone off and back on again - it might just do the trick!
- If you don't have any saved invoice drafts you could uninstall the app, as re-installing it then will pick up the shiny, new version. Please do not do this though, if you have any saved drafts, as they will be lost.
